Adaptive Clothing UK – Sensory Friendly for Kids

Adaptive Clothing UK is a Cheshire-based company making everyday clothes for children who find ordinary garments uncomfortable or hard to get into — autistic children, children with sensory sensitivities and children with physical disabilities. The range is designed to look like standard clothing and school uniform while removing the things that turn dressing into a daily battle: scratchy seams, washing labels and awkward construction. It is aimed at the parents and carers doing the dressing, and at children working towards dressing more independently.

The company was started by Helen, a former Greater Manchester Police officer and mother of three. She began by adapting swimsuits for her eldest daughter to make changing easier, but it was her niece Lilly, who is autistic with sensory processing differences, who prompted her to launch the business. Products are developed through conversations with parents, carers and specialists rather than designed in isolation.

The collection covers soft pure cotton T-shirts, joggers, vests and onesies, a SEN school uniform range, and UPF 50+ sun-safe swimsuits, with children's sizes from 0–3 months to 8–9 years. Orders ship worldwide and can be returned within 14 days. A percentage of every purchase goes to Just4Children, a charity that funds medical treatment and support for children in the UK and Ireland. The business has been recognised through Theo Paphitis's Small Business Sunday, the SHEro Awards and the All4Inclusion Awards.
