About ADHD Alex

ADHD Alex is the practice of Alex Campbell, a speaker, coach and psychotherapist who works with adults with ADHD and with the organisations that employ them. He has known about his own ADHD for more than 30 years — he was among the first people in the UK to be diagnosed, in 1990 — and that long view shapes everything he offers. His work is aimed both at adults who want to understand how they think and stop fighting it, and at employers, universities and HR teams who want colleagues with ADHD to be understood rather than managed.

For individuals, Alex offers ADHD coaching and ADHD-informed counselling and psychotherapy. He is a BACP psychotherapist, an ICF coach with advanced ADHD coach training, and a Mental Health First Aid instructor. Therapy follows what he calls a Core Compassionate Model of Change — making sense of physical, emotional and cognitive experience, setting boundaries, building safety and trust, then moving towards autonomy — and suits people who are newly diagnosed and overwhelmed, or who want to understand their past and their emotions in more depth. Common threads include imposter feelings and perfectionism. He also runs an ADHD self-compassion course and hosts online support and learning groups for ADHD UK. Coaching starts with a free 30-minute discovery session; a first therapy session is 50 minutes.

For organisations, he gives keynote talks on ADHD at work and ADHD in relationships, and offers a neurodiversity overview session, training and development, HR support and guidance on Access to Work. Past clients include the education publisher Twinkl and the University of Kent. Alex previously practised on Harley Street in London but now lives mainly in Auckland, New Zealand, and works online over Zoom, with sessions timed for New Zealand mornings and UK evenings.
