About Cuevera
Cuevera is a Chrome browser extension for neurodivergent adults — particularly autistic and ADHD people — who spend energy at work second-guessing what colleagues really mean, or worrying about how their own messages will be read. It treats the problem as a two-way mismatch rather than a personal shortcoming: workplaces run on unspoken cues and indirect phrasing, while direct, literal writing is often misread as blunt. Cuevera sits in the browser and offers a second reading of the text in question, when it is needed.
There are two tools. What They Mean takes a message someone has received and sets out its likely subtext — sarcasm, passive-aggressive tone, indirect requests, idioms, jargon, vague expectations and implied urgency — so a user can tell whether "no rush" is genuine or a brief reply is a sign of irritation. How I Sound works the other way, checking a draft before it is sent and flagging where it might come across as blunt, cold, defensive, urgent or demanding, leaving the user to decide whether to change it. The framing draws on guidance from the National Autistic Society and CHADD, and an accompanying journal covers the double empathy problem, masking, autistic burnout at work and why direct language is so often misread.
Practically, the extension is free for up to ten checks a day, with no email address or card needed to start, and it launched in 2026. Its privacy policy is worth reading before using it on work systems: selected text, and sometimes a little surrounding text for context, is processed through OpenAI with storage switched off, and Cuevera says it does not keep the raw text. It advises anyone handling confidential or regulated material to follow their employer's rules on external tools.
