The EBSA & SEN Hub — School Avoidance & SEND Support for Parents

The EBSA & SEN Hub is a free, UK-focused education resource for parents and carers navigating Emotionally Based School Avoidance and Special Educational Needs in England. Founded by a former Headteacher and SENDCo, it exists to translate an overwhelming system into plain English — practical guidance on education law, school attendance, regulation and advocacy, written for the parent sitting at the kitchen table trying to work out what their child is entitled to and what to do next.

The Hub’s guides cover the questions that dominate EBSA and SEND life: Section 19 education when a child cannot attend school, how to request an EHC needs assessment, what parents should know about reduced timetables, and how EOTAS compares with elective home education — treating alternative provision and home education as legitimate paths rather than last resorts. Alongside the legal and procedural guidance sit resources for understanding the child themselves, including a guide to dysregulation and physical conflict and a Green–Amber–Red–Blue regulation plan, approaching school-related distress as a need to be understood and supported rather than behaviour to be corrected.
