About Jenny Tudor

Jenny Tudor is a BACP-accredited counsellor and psychotherapist in Macclesfield, Cheshire, who works with autistic, ADHD and dyslexic adults, among other neurodivergent people — including those who are self-identified or only beginning to explore the idea. Many of the people who come to her are worn down by years of masking, caught in burnout or shutdown, stuck in people-pleasing, or living with a harsh inner critic. Her starting point is that much of the shame neurodivergent adults carry is a reasonable response to a lifetime in a neurotypical world that rarely adjusts, not a personal failing, and that nobody needs to be fixed. Clients can stim freely, and she will adapt the room and her approach to suit them.

Sessions are person-centred and pluralistic, so the client sets the agenda. Talking is only one of the tools: she also uses creative exercises, somatic bodywork, grounding and nervous-system regulation, and will stop mid-session to check in with the body if someone is becoming dysregulated. Trauma is a second specialism — she has specific training in domestic abuse, sexual assault and birth trauma, and uses Rewind Trauma Therapy and the Flash Technique — and she also sees people for anxiety, depression, low self-worth, grief and relationship difficulties. She holds an MSc/PGDip in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Salford and worked in the NHS, mental health services, domestic abuse and disability charities, and social housing before private practice.

The format is flexible for people who find a clinic room hard going: sessions can be face to face, walk-and-talk outdoors in Macclesfield, over Zoom or WhatsApp, by phone or by email, and can be a single session or short, medium or long-term work. Work begins with a one-hour introductory session. Standard sessions last 50 minutes, and a one-off extended 90-minute session is also available. She offers concessionary places for people on low incomes and trainee counsellors, though these are currently full. The practice is part-time, with daytime sessions on Fridays and evening sessions on Mondays.
