Description

Bear in Mind is the neuroaffirmative psychotherapy, mindful mentoring and supervision practice of Jessica Andexer, a multiply neurodivergent (AuDHD) psychotherapist, supervisor and mindfulness teacher. Built on the principle that traditional therapeutic approaches often fall short for neurodivergent people, the practice offers neuroscience-informed, accessible and creative spaces designed by and for neurodivergent minds. Jessica takes psychological theories built for neurotypical people, deconstructs them, and reframes them through an authentic neurodivergent lens — work that is entirely collaborative and tailored to each person’s unique sensory and nervous-system profile.

With over two decades in mental health spanning trauma services, charities, universities and the NHS, Jessica’s clinical foundation is in psychodynamic and integrative psychotherapy, layered with specialist training in Interpersonal Neurobiology (Dr Dan Siegel), NeuroAffective Touch, somatic movement, trauma-sensitive mindfulness and energy psychotherapy, and grounded in a Buddhist psychology and mindfulness lineage studied at the EIAB. The practice offers one-to-one psychotherapy, mindful mentoring adapted for neurodivergent nervous systems, and consultation and supervision for neurodivergent professionals supporting their own clients.

Areas of focus include pre- and post-identification support — holding space to explore neurodivergence before assessment and to process late-identification grief, self-advocacy and integration afterwards — alongside burnout, meltdowns and shutdowns, somatic regulation, unmasking and untangling internalised ableism, the disclosure dilemma, executive function, and mapping sensory profiles for everyday wellbeing. Lived-experience led throughout, the work moves away from pathologising models toward celebrating each person’s neurotype, helping clients come home to the whole of who they are with greater ease and less reactivity. A free 30-minute introductory chat is available.

As a multiply neurodivergent, AuDHD psychotherapist, I offer a novel, active and engaged approach to therapy — one built on the understanding that traditional therapies often ignore what neuroscience and lived experience both tell us: our bodies, brains and nervous systems are deeply intertwined with our mental health, and one size does not fit all, especially for the neurodivergent community. Combining deep therapeutic processing with neurobiologically informed tools and "hacks," I invite the whole of you into the room. My practice is grounded in over two decades of clinical work and draws on neuroscience, Buddhist psychology, Interpersonal Neurobiology and somatic modalities. Together we look at what brought you here, what is happening in the here and now, and where you want to be — at a pace and in a shape that fits how your brain and nervous system actually work. This might be for you if you are looking for therapy that doesn't feel like anything you've tried before. If having an AuDHD therapist with lived experience would create a deeper sense of safety; if you want to understand how your unique brain and nervous system show up in your day-to-day life and energy; if you are looking for practical, personalised, neurodivergent-friendly ways to navigate a world built for neurotypical people; or if you simply need a gentle, non-pathologising space to be with your feelings. I welcome anyone who identifies as neurodivergent — formally diagnosed, self-identified, or still exploring the possibility. I am a professional, but I am not the expert in you.
