About Kyros

Kyros is an Android app for autistic and other neurodivergent people who find a day easier to navigate when it can be seen, and for the parents, carers, teachers and support workers who help plan it. It puts two tools that usually live apart — a communication board and a visual schedule — into one place, so the picture someone taps to say what they need is the same picture that shows up in their routine later. For anyone who has juggled a paper timetable, a symbol board and a phone calendar at once, that is the practical point of difference.

The building block is the action tile: a card made from an image, icon, photo, label and colour. Tapping a tile shows it full screen and reads the label aloud with text-to-speech, giving a direct way to express a need, a choice or an action without spoken words. The same tiles can be dropped into routines and viewed by day, week or month, or followed as a checklist. The home screen shows only what is happening now, what comes next and the rest of today's plan — which keeps the load of reading a schedule low. Reminders flag scheduled items, and a panic button offers calming support when a moment tips into overwhelm. Photos of real places and people can replace generic symbols, so a routine looks like the person's own life.

Kyros is made by Binapani Ltd, a UK company building neuro-inclusive apps and learning tools, which also works with Kingston University on research and development. The app runs on the device without an account, a login or cloud sync, so routine data stays on the phone or tablet and works without a signal. At the time of writing it is on Google Play only; there is no iOS version. Schedules can also be exported as PDFs for printing, which helps where a device is not practical, such as some classrooms or therapy rooms.

Questions about Kyros

Is Kyros available on iPhone or iPad?

Not at present. Kyros is listed on Google Play for Android devices, and Binapani does not currently list an iOS version.

Does Kyros need an internet connection or an account?

No. Routine data is stored on the device, and the app works without a login or cloud sync.

Can the communication tiles use photos of our own home and people?

Yes. Tiles can be personalised with custom photos as well as icons, labels and colours, and the same tiles can be scheduled into routines.
