Mentallyunstitched — Sensory-Friendly Neurodivergent Clothing

Mentallyunstitched is a UK clothing label making hoodies and T-shirts for people whose bodies register clothing as noise — autistic and other neurodivergent people, people living with anxiety, and anyone for whom labels, rough seams and tight necklines turn getting dressed into a daily drain. It sells online and ships worldwide, with adult sizes across the range and a smaller line of children's hoodies.

Its founder, Millie, went more than 21 years without knowing she was autistic, and the brand grew out of her own experience of anxiety and sensory overwhelm and her wish to show that sensory-friendly design could also be something people want to wear. The design choices are specific rather than decorative. The Comfort Hug Hoodie uses a heavyweight 70/30 cotton-polyester fabric intended to feel like a weighted hug without any physical touch, with flat seams, no labels, a loose neckline, thumb holes, a large kangaroo pocket and a hood cut big enough to go over headphones. The Keep it Cool T-shirts do the opposite job: a cooling, breathable fabric for people who overheat when stressed, again with flat seams and no tags. Both come in a relaxed unisex fit, and the brand suggests sizing up for a more oversized feel.

Most pieces are made to order, so standard orders are dispatched within about two weeks and pre-orders can take longer. That also means there are no returns, exchanges or cancellations, so the size guide on each product page matters more than usual — it is worth measuring a favourite hoodie before ordering.
