About Sensory Overload
Sensory Overload is an English-language online learning platform for neurodivergent adults who want to understand how their own minds work and make day-to-day life run with less friction. It is aimed particularly at people who have recognised themselves as ADHD, autistic or AuDHD later in life and are trying to make sense of patterns such as burnout, anxiety, shutdowns or low self-esteem. There is also material for partners, relatives and friends who want to support someone.
The platform was set up by Johan Lammers, who holds an MSc in Psychology from the University of Nijmegen and worked in international development, including at UNICEF headquarters in New York, and in organisational development for a Dutch government agency. He was diagnosed with ADHD and autism at 42 after a breakdown, and built Sensory Overload around what he found missing at that point: explanations that combine the research with lived experience and translate both into something usable. It is operated from the Netherlands by Atmosfeer Psychologie, and describes its content as science-based and governed by a published editorial policy.
The library is large — more than 30 structured courses and over 600 articles. Courses are grouped into basics, personal profile courses for mapping individual patterns, coping skills and tools, supporting someone else, and science and research, and cover topics including burnout, giftedness, self-care and co-occurring anxiety and depression. A free account unlocks all the basics courses; further courses and bundles are paid, and the platform offers discounted access to anyone for whom the prices are a barrier. Everything is self-paced and online, so it works from anywhere.
